THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WELDED SQUARE TUBE AND SEAMLESS SQUARE TUBE
In industrial applications, square tubes are mainly divided into welded square tubes and seamless square tubes according to different manufacturing processes. There are significant differences between the two in structural performance, application scenarios and manufacturing processes.
1. Welded square tube
Welded square tube is a type of steel with a hollow square section, also known as hollow cold-bent steel. It is made of hot-rolled or cold-rolled strip steel or coiled plate as raw material, after cold bending, and then made into a finished pipe with a square section by high-frequency welding process. Welded square tubes have the advantages of high production efficiency, diverse sizes and low cost.
For thick-walled welded square tubes, in addition to thickening the wall thickness, its corner size control and edge straightness also have a high process level, and can even reach or exceed the forming quality of resistance welded cold-bent square tubes. The conventional R angle (rounded corner) size is generally 2 to 3 times the wall thickness, and different R angles can also be customized according to customer needs to meet specific uses or decoration requirements.
2. Seamless square tube
Seamless square tube is a metal tube with no weld and hollow cross section, which is processed by seamless round tube through four-sided extrusion die. Since the whole tube body has no weld structure, its overall strength is higher and its pressure bearing capacity is stronger, which is especially suitable for high-strength or high-demand industrial occasions.
Seamless square tube is widely used in liquid transportation, hydraulic support, mechanical structure, medium and low pressure and high pressure boiler tube, heat exchanger tube, gas transportation and petroleum industries. Compared with welded square tube, it has better crack resistance, stronger safety and durability, and is suitable for engineering projects requiring high reliability.
