According to the standard, the chemical composition of XM-21 is 0.08% carbon, 1.00% silicon, 2.0% manganese, 0.045% phosphorus, 0.030% sulfur, 18-20% chromium, 8-11% nickel, 0.15% niobium, and 0.16- 0.30% nitrogen. The density of this material is 7.93 g/cm³.
XM-21 can be used to manufacture stainless steel products of various shapes, such as cold drawn bars, hot rolled bars, wire rods, forgings and plates, etc. Due to its high strength properties, it is suitable for machining but is not suitable for cold heading.
When manufacturing XM-21 stainless steel products, solution treatment is an essential step. The heating temperature range is generally 1000~1150℃, and 1020-1080℃ is usually used. The specific heating temperature should be appropriately adjusted according to factors such as the composition and shape of the material to ensure the rationality and stability of the heating temperature.
