2205 duplex stainless steel bar has become an innovative choice in the field of industrial manufacturing due to its excellent performance and high cost performance. As a duplex stainless steel made of 22% chromium, 2.5% molybdenum, 4.5% nickel and nitrogen elements, its yield strength is more than twice that of ordinary austenitic stainless steel, giving designers more lightweight space - thinner sections can meet strength requirements, significantly reducing material usage and transportation costs, and more economical than traditional stainless steels such as 316 and 317L under the same working conditions. The alloy is stable in a wide temperature range of -50°F to +600°F. When used beyond the range, it needs to be carefully evaluated in combination with the characteristics of the welding process. Its core value lies in overcoming multiple corrosion challenges in harsh environments.

The unique 22% chromium, 3% molybdenum and nitrogen elements work together to build a full-range corrosion defense system: in chloride, acidic media and high temperature and high pressure environments, the ability to resist pitting and crevice corrosion exceeds that of 316L/317L, and the duplex microstructure more thoroughly eliminates the risk of stress corrosion cracking of austenitic materials, and the service life is increased by more than 3 times.


The material maintains stable performance in a wide temperature range of -50°F to +600°F, the thermal expansion coefficient is 40% lower than that of austenitic steel, and the thermal conductivity is increased by 30%, which effectively alleviates thermal stress deformation. In terms of processing, it supports hot and cold dual-mode forming - hot processing needs to be completed quickly in the range of 1750-2250°F and immediately undergo 1900°F water quenching and solution treatment to ensure phase balance; although cold forming needs to consider the rebound compensation caused by high strength, complex parts can be formed through precision equipment. Welding is compatible with mainstream processes such as TIG/MIG. The weld area maintains more than 95% of the strength and corrosion resistance of the parent material. The specially designed welding procedure can avoid the risk of intermetallic phase precipitation and ensure structural integrity.
