304L stainless steel bar is a low-carbon variant of 304 stainless steel, designed for applications that require welding. Reducing the carbon content effectively reduces the precipitation of carbides in the heat-affected zone of the weld, thereby reducing the risk of intergranular corrosion (weld erosion). Compared with 304, 304L has a slightly higher nickel content and a significantly lower carbon content, making it better in pitting resistance and having better corrosion resistance.
304L stainless steel bar has a wide range of uses, with excellent corrosion resistance, heat resistance, low-temperature strength and mechanical properties, good processing performance, suitable for hot processing processes such as stamping and bending, no heat treatment hardening phenomenon, and maintains stable performance in the range of -196°C to 800°C. After welding or stress relief, it still has excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion. Even without heat treatment, it can still maintain good corrosion resistance to meet the needs of use in harsh environments.
As a low-carbon austenitic stainless steel, 304L stainless steel bar has become the preferred corrosion-resistant material in the industrial field with the following core characteristics:
Ultra-low carbon anti-granular corrosion: The carbon content is strictly controlled at ≤0.03%, which significantly reduces the precipitation of carbides in the heat-affected zone of welding, eliminates the risk of intergranular corrosion, and maintains stable corrosion resistance without heat treatment after welding.
Enhanced pitting corrosion resistance: Optimized nickel element ratio (8%-12%), with molybdenum synergistic effect, the pitting corrosion resistance in acid, chloride and marine environments is better than conventional 304 stainless steel.
Excellent welding performance: Low carbon characteristics avoid post-weld sensitization, and the heat-affected zone has excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion, which is suitable for multi-layer welding and complex structure processing.
Wide temperature range adaptability: Maintain mechanical stability at extreme temperatures from -196℃ to 800℃, non-magnetic, resistant to low-temperature brittle cracking and high-temperature oxidation.
High processing efficiency: Excellent ductility, support hot and cold processing such as stamping and bending, no heat treatment hardening problems, suitable for precision parts molding.
All-scenario corrosion resistance: Resistant to stress corrosion cracking, uniform corrosion and crevice corrosion, certified by international standards such as ASTM and JIS, and suitable for a variety of corrosive media.
